Spanish Football Desk

How we cover Spanish football in English

The Spanish Football Desk is an English-language publication about Spanish football, written for US soccer coaches and clubs. Spain produces some of the most-studied football in the world, and most of the reporting on it is in Spanish. We exist to bridge that gap.

What we publish

Daily news on La Liga, the transfer market, and the Spanish youth game, plus evergreen guides for coaches planning a trip to Spain. Our audience is coaches, so we explain why a story matters to the coaching and youth-development side of the game, not just the headline.

How we source and write

We follow Spanish football through the country's major outlets, including AS, Marca, Sport and Mundo Deportivo. We report the factsof a story in our own original English words and link back to the original reporting on every article. We do not translate, copy or republish another outlet's articles, headlines or photographs. Facts are not something any outlet owns; their words are, and we respect that line.

Our newsroom is produced with an automated editorial system that drafts each article from the day's reporting. Before anything publishes, each story is checked against the specific sources it cites, and anything not supported by those sources is discarded rather than published. Photographs of people are used only where they carry a free, open license (Creative Commons or public domain), with attribution. Club badges are shown for editorial identification of the club a story concerns.

Accuracy and corrections

Football moves fast and early reports are sometimes revised. If we get something wrong, we will correct it. To flag an error, email desk@spanishfootballdesk.com.

Who publishes the Desk

The Spanish Football Desk is published by Odisea Tours, which has organised group soccer, softball and cultural tours across Spain since 2005. Odisea sponsors the Desk and is the reason it exists, but the reporting is written as an independent football desk. Where you see a clearly marked Odisea partner message, that is advertising.
